Newsletter 2 - 01/03/10

So it's Newsletter #2 and what has changed since the last one. Well, quite a lot.

Firstly it is amazing to see how tC has regrown with hardly any advertisement. The only or main way we have got the word out is via msn... So 168 members, where quite a good percentage of them are active imo is pretty awesome. We're nearly hitting 5K posts, which if I remember correctly is only just a little slower than tC v1. There's nothing but positivity going on, except for the one or two trolls who seek hefty attention because they have parents that hate each other, everybody is jut getting along and I feel every member is enjoying there time here even during this rebuilding phase.

Which brings me to the rebuilding...

FIRSTLY I want to stress something. tC has other forums than General Discussion!! PLEASE use all the forums on the board. Eventually tC will look seriously messed up because GD will have the majority of the boards post count. So let me please stress that we want you to use every forum on the board if you can. If you want to make us look active and busy then do eeeeettt. We'll also be keeping track of individual members that do this and it will contribute to Member Of The Month - which you will read about further down.

The skin is more or less complete. I have a few minor graphical edits to do including some CSS fixes and mod installations. The skin as you see it now is basically how it will stay until The Next Level V2 (the next skin). The banner will change according to specific holidays etc, but this is the base I'll be working on. So get used to it!

Our 'VIP'
You may have noticed the other day that I announced tC VIP. The reason that thread disappeared is because I have decided to get us public hacks on more recent games instead. MW2, BF BC2, etc. I will make sure we get some pubs out for CS Source but if we want to reach out to the cheat scene with a bigger effect we have to show that we're up to date and hacks for the mentioned games would get the tC name circulating. Which brings me to how we will distribute these hacks...


The Hack Database will be coming.. But as I've mentioned many many times before we are still rebuilding and this is one of those things that is pending. It's is a main priority for us though as it is the one thing that makes us a hack distributing forum. And when the DB comes I will be recruiting TWO people to maintain it. I will be maintaining it myself but I will need two extra DB Admins that will be focusing on the database alone. Keeping it incredibly up to date and maintained. People will start flooding in soon to download hacks, they will want an up to date collection of public hacks and if that isn't the case, word will get about.

So if you believe you have a good knowledge of the cheat scene and of public releases, are extremely active and think you can keep a hack database maintained and current. Contact me asap.


However this is still the beginning of tC v2 so this is where you come in. We need you to tell EVERYONE that thec0re.net is back up. Now if your sat there thinking, 'I'll just chill and let the other guys do it, one less guy won't make a difference' then your wrong. If you want to experience the old tC then YOU need to chip in and do your bit. Tell your whole msn contact list, advertise on similar forums but do this without trolling them, leave misleading messages on popular youtube videos. etc etc... but the MOST important one is this. Contact EVERY old member of tC. Even those who know tC is back up but haven't registered yet. What is best for the site is getting that old member base back, the regulars that made thec0re the best damn website around. But you get drift, DO IT and don't sit back.


Member of the Month is coming! Yes. Starting today MOTM is back. On the 1st April the MOTM: March will be announced. So it's time to start chipping in. There will be prizes and a special forum status for the winner as well as the knowledge that you was the first Member Of The Month of tC V2. There are already a few stand out members the staff are aware of, but that can all change. Starting today everybody has a clean slate, if you want to win, you need to start showing us how much you love this forum.

So what contributes to MOTM?:
- Activity is key. We like to see members who are online a lot and are actively posting. You are helping keep the forum alive.
- Contributions. Giving to tC is also a big yes yes when it comes to deciding MOTM. If you give something to us that we need or helps us in any way then the staff are very aware of you.
- Helping others. We love helpful people. There isn't too many around these days and if we notice you are helping the members around the forum then you're a definite contender.

You have all participated in Member of the Month in some way. You all know how it works. If you want that title, you better start impressing us starting today!


Graphics Crew was implemented by Ruski the other day. We want tC to be a diverse community and the Gfx Crew help to maintain that. The Crews main aims are to keep the Gfx forums active. Completing graphics related requests for all the members, showcasing their recent pieces and giving support to learning members. If you think your good enough for the Gfx Crew then head down to the Showcase forum and show us your work. After that, read THIS thread and reply accordingly.


It's been an amazing start for thec0re.net v2. With what's to come and the way things are going right now I see a future as bright as I did that day the very first tC opened. Everybody who made a mistake back then has learnt a lesson from it (I hope) which will prevent future fuck ups. We all know what we did wrong, and it won't happen again. Staff positions will be exclusive, admin groups won't be infiltrated by people with cash, changes to the forum will be discussed between management. We will succeed this time and I'm glad your all here because this is the beginning of GREATNESS.

I bought a new skin and I've been editing it since last night. It's just a base to work on but I thought I will enable it to get your thoughts so far.

I plan on changing the sub colors to blue, don't worry, yellow won't stay.

So far I've edited the mainbars, banner and a couple of other things. You'll see the progress as I continue to change it.

Give me yours thoughts, what you'd like to see change, any problems I should be aware of.

ALSO could everyone please post screenshots so I can see what the skin looks like on your res. Thanks.

We're back

I'm drunk right now but I had a serious urge to right a newsletter so here it is, newsletter #1 of the new tC.

So we're officially back. It's a fact. It's not one of those shitty new revival attempts. This is thec0re.net v2. v2 you ask? YES VERSION 2. The reason for this is simple. Everything in the past was tC v1. It started as v1, and ended as v1. Now I might not be making any sense right here because I'm mashed - and yes, I can type correctly when drunk, I don't have to fake typos so I can pretend to be drunk like most of you bad asses - but I see everything that we did in the past, from the beginning of the first tC to the destruction of it and all the baggage that came with that as the first attempt. It was incredibly successful and propelled us to the top for however long, but eventually things spiralled out of control.

So here we are now. thec0re.net v2. A new beginning. Lessons have been learnt, shit has been dealt with. The bullet proof vests are on now. There will be no mistakes. No new admins that you've never heard of. The management will stay relatively the same, staff will be made a tight unit with no unnecessary recruitment. And this time around I can help finance things as well as Type.

So this leads me onto the infamous What Is To Come thread.

Now I haven't really had a proper convo with Type about this yet but from my knowledge this is what is to come for us in the near future.

Skin
I'll get us skinned out. I know a few designers that are close friends that are willing to skins for us. Obviously it won't be free so when I get some money together I'll hire someone. Before that however I'll throw up a thread to see how you guys want the site to look. I'll gather your thoughts and I'll turn them into a leet skeet design for my negro to start. I can't give you a time frame on this because that has proved an incredible failure in the past. All you need to know is there will be a skin coming, and it will look pro.

Hacks
As far as I am aware, Type has something in the pipeline on the hacks side of things. All I know is we'll be getting public hacks. When? I don't know right now. But this isn't a priority. Firstly we need to build, build, build. Then the hacks will come. But they are coming, I just don't know when yet.

I'm about to fall off my chair. My room is currently spinning at 100mph and I have a pizza on the way that I don't even want. I can;t think of much else right now but it's not important yet.

Our main focus right now is to build. We need ALL our regulars back on the forum. You guys are our core (lol, core) and we need you to keep the site alive. I'm estimating only half or even less of our old regular member base is here. We need you all to do your bit and spread the word. Once we get most people back we can start to make serious headway with the site.

It will all happen in time. We need patience from everyone right now. It's not as easy as it used to be because back when we started EVERYBODY knew about tC. Right now, not everyone knows we're back. So help us out.

I'm about to go lie down before I spew everywhere. This pizza man is gonna be standing at a closed door. I cba eating.

Nothing major, but figured I would post here to tell you.


Basically, we moved hosts last night. Sadly, the Cpanel SQL backup I took turned out to be a blank DB, because god hates me and decided to laugh at me like this. Furthermore, it won't let me download a full copy when I try to pull a copy off the old webserver.

I'm working on resolving this and getting the latest copy, but all those who registerred within the last day will just have to do so again.

Welcome to the reopening of thec0re.net.

My name is Typeusernamehere, Type for short. Many old members may know me, many newer ones by not. I, along with Shifty, founded thec0re.net two years ago as a haven for people looking for a friendly online community dedicated to hacks and cheats. Our original user base came from Fkn0wned, which most, if not all of our staff left as a result of a major dispute with the site's owner (i.e. scamming staff/members, backdooring cheats, and setting up a fake VIP program which he took people's money and didn't even release hacks.)

During our stint of almost a year, we became one of the premier public cheat sites on the net. We released a number of our own hacks (three versions of [tC]Hook) as well as a database of the best cheats on the net before going down due to a combination of issues (a string of unfortunate events in my own life, hosting problems, etc). We came back for a second brief stint, but the original fire which made this site what it was was gone, unlike herpes. That shit follows you.

This is our first serious attempt to restore what we once had. We have a number of surprises and other things planned for the not too distant future, and we hope you stick around and maintain an active presence in the community to see them .
